I remember this day last year, some parts of it anyway

A part that stood out

I remember laying on your shoulder while you played chess

I remember someone saying we look good together

I remember just wanting to kiss you that very second

I remember being tempted to tell you that I fell in love with you, friendship be dammed

I remember not wanting to let you go when we embraced

I remember your scent sticking to my clothes after you left

I remember sleeping in those very clothes

I remember writing about the whole experience

And this is what I wrote:

I like me better when I'm with him

My heart thumps a steady rhythm

His breath sends my brain into overdrive

His scent sticks to my skin just with a 5 seconds hug

My mind takes a calm dive

I breathe better with him there and I could talk and smile forever

We look good together, that's what they say

I wish he could see that too

A year later, I wish I said all I felt

But I'll hold on to this regret and hopefully I see you again.
