The Hustle is Real, But the Books Must Live!

I used to be a reading machine. Before the glorious chaos of adulthood, hitting 10 books a month was normal. I had the time, the speed, and the uninterrupted focus. Busy where????? Busy on books.

Now my schedule is a lot different. When I’m not chasing deadlines, I’m deep in writing or editing for clients.

I love it all, but my spirit person just wants to stretch out on the couch and be a proper bookworm all day. (You know, just get me a glass of water, keep it on the table and tiptoe back to where you come from without distracting me kinda thing 🥹)

Then, the gap between wanting to read and actually reading became wide, and so, I needed a strategy.

The Fix?

I opened a small online book club! We review one book every two weeks. Yes, that timeframe is generous, but it's effective. I can now proudly say even if I barely read, I read at least two books a - month. This is a consistent win that keeps my literary engine running and ensures my own learning doesn't stall. Because you pick one or two from every book you read even the romance you all don’t like. 😏😏

If you have stuff you love but adulthood keeps pushing aside, find something to hold yourself accountable with. It's the only way to protect your passions. Make out time for it and tick the box when you do.

And yes, if your next write-up needs an editor with the eyes of a hawk and a heart full of books, hit Wordsmitters up, let’s talk.
