Valuing Integrity

Integrity is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding character traits I'm building in adulthood. I'm making sure that I do the right thing, even when nobody rewards or congratulates me for it. I get to have a clear conscience and few regrets.

Integrity is something we should work on. It brings a lot of clarity to the kind of person we want to be and how we deal with life.

The workplace is a good place to practice having it. You're doing your job with the right amount of effort, even when you aren't thanked for it. You avoid unstable politics, even if you understand what is going on...

This makes even more sense with social media. It's easy to become something you are not when your life doesn't glitter and pop like the people you see on your phone. While I believe some people have an extraordinary life, some are performative. They simply want validation and popularity based on what they post and not who they are, so don't overthink when you're watching them.

There's nothing wrong with documenting the good times, but we should try to remind each other that there are boring and even bad times. Don't lose the ability to live your best life when you pretend to. You being alive and going through each day should be enough.
