The fourth step in liberation is forgiveness. For yourself first. For all wrongs you accepted, internalized, committed, observed .
Then, Forgiveness of the wrongs committed against you. Not for their sake but for yours.
Forgiving them releases you of the burden of carrying that hurt and the heaviness of all that comes with.
This is probably the hardest step (second to discovery).
Like every step before, forgiveness is dynamic sometimes you can move from Discovery to forgiveness and back to acceptance. The path to liberation is fluid. It is evolving.
Forgiveness is hard because it can often times feel as if justice has not been served. By forgiving the wrongs committed against us we can easily feel like that negates and invalidates any consequence. Sometimes, maybe most times, it's not up to us to deliver consequences. ( Not sure when is really). Nonetheless, this step can often leave us questioning ourselves. It can leave us raw and vulnerable because we've let the burden go. We've shed the weight of it off and find ourselves in a new body and don't know how to love it yet.
At the core if it though, the release and letting go is so powerful. It's grounding and brings us back home to ourselves.
The starting point though ( always) is to start with yourself.
I forgive you...
