I can feel the wind blowing , the rain drizzling and threatening to ruin my makeup and an outfit that I have meticulously planned.

One year after and Lagos fashion week still feels the same, a  home to many fashion enthusiasts, designers, models and curious  outsiders.  A week crafted by fashion lovers for fashion lovers

What  started as a  gloomy day transformed into  a colourful one as brands like Elexiay, Hertunba, babayo, graced the runway show with outfits that words are not enough to describe them.

Here is what I think about the work of art, some of these designers left for our perusal on the runway.

Elexiay

Its SS25 collection  was a Beautiful interplay of  cotton and crochet finishing on the hems and neckline of the dresses and two-pieces. This collection consisted of outfits that are fit for vacation, drinks with friends, a wedding after–party and a beautiful white crochet number fit for a bride who is tired of the usual Vivienne Westwood inspired bridal dresses.

MALITE

Malite, an up-and-coming  brand which I am very pleased with. She has a way of making  trendy elements of fashion such as bubble skirts and ruched dresses that look very grand. Malite’s unique style’s DNA is unmistakable, making it a brand that stands out even from afar.

 DIMELEJOR

This collection felt like home, once again I am seated on my mother’s mat while she tries to detangle my head full of hair and I am yapping about what my crush emeka said to me in class the other day. All my life, I never thought I’d see my mother’s mat adorned In the most regal way. This is a collection that should be in fashion galleries frozen in time for all to see.

IREMITIDE

This collection showed consistent use of  red and yellow that reminded me of Mr Biggs in a good way and also the colour black. This collection’s Beautiful, sexy and flattering silhouettes, not a bad debut for this designer’s first time.

ESO LIMOS

This collection is a worthy tribute to the goddess OSUN with designs reminiscent of my  mother's iro and Buba lace reimagined and made sexy for the modern day femme fatale. If toyin tomato existed in this day and time, best believe you’d find her one of these pieces. This collection is for the old Nollywood baddies, so ladies fall in line and embrace it

HERTUNBA

Hertunba takes us on a journey to “LULU LAND” with pieces inspired by the regal, opulent   women of  EDO, as seen in  the use of  coral beads on some of the pieces. Moving beyond  her usual AKWETE material, she  incorporated the adire tie and dye. They were vibrant colour additions to the famous hertunba bubu and i am pretty sure they will be flying off their shelves. If you were looking for a brand fit for queens, this is the one.

THE LADY MAKER

Once again, she presents a collection that not only has a seat at the table but heads the table. This is one for the women that are rich and powerful . It uses elements of the universe's infinite beauty to make women look like the stars that light up every room that they walk into. This collection is one that ignites or refuels the purpose of the woman. This is not just a collection, this is a constellation.

EMMY KASBIT

This collection is a celebration of the brand’s 10th year anniversary. Once again Emmy sticks to his identity but he does not play it safe with this one. Incorporating his usual use of the akwete material and recently silk in retro colours like navy blue, wine etc this collection feels new but at the same time a recollection of his past works. He also incorporated the use of tie and dye, a delightful partnership with Niam 311, a clothing brand known for its specialty with batik and tie and dye.
