I have always had dreams of being a videographer. Way before my teenage years, I’ll watch music videos and feel I could do better. My siblings, who get tired of my comments while we watch TV together, have over the years joined me in my dream by making comments such as “you could do better” after the end credits of videos we watch together.
Sadly, though, that dream has been just a dream because life happened. While I will like to attribute this to the fact that the opportunities to change water into wine have not presented themselves, I also accept that I may not have seized the opportunities in gluttony when they came.
*Note: Do not be like Rita and always seize opportunities.
I do, though, like to pull out those scripts of dreams from time to time and reminisce on how bangers they would have been. Just like this particular one. It would have been fye honestly. Anyone that can help on pitching this to the artists, let them know it's never too late.
The entire Playboy album by Fireboy really gets me thinking. I don’t know why. It could be because I’m still listening judiciously to get that feeling that Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps gave me. Compromise, though, did something to my heart as a creative. While listening to its melody, an image flashed through my mind. I ran with it, and here we are.
Advice: Listen to the song while reading the following to experience in 4D.
[Opening Scene] 0:00 - 0:29
The video opens with Fireboy pulling up to a house, visibly eager. Cut to a scene of a video vixen getting ready in front of a mirror, either tying her hair up or putting on earrings. Meanwhile, Fireboy honks his car impatiently and checks his watch. He looks up at the house just as our girl, with a distinct hairdo and different clothing from the first time she comes up on the screen, emerges. She joins Fireboy in the car, giving him a kiss on the cheek, and he breaks into a smile as they drive off.
[Transition] 0:29- 0:45
Transition back to the scene where the video vixen is at the mirror in the first scene she appears on screen; she now walks down the stairs of a loft to where we see Rema sitting on a couch with a notepad and headphones, engrossed in his work. The vixen creeps up behind him, covering his eyes with a smile. Rema holds her hands, smiles back, and removes her hands, walking her around to the couch. He playfully grabs her waist, and they share a laugh, all in slow motion.
[Couple 1: Fireboy's Story] 0:45 - 0:57
Return to Fireboy and his girl, now in a vibrant farmer's market. They engage in lovey-dovey scenes while shopping, with Fireboy playfully grabbing fruits from her basket at the stalls. They have fun and act goofy together, capturing those typical music video love scenes.
[Couple 2: Rema's Story] 0:57 - 1:37
Enter Rema's verse. Rema and his girl create intimate scenes in the cozy house while cooking a meal. She slaps his hand away from tasting her food, and he responds by hugging her from behind and kissing her hair affectionately. Their scenes depict their love and playfulness in the kitchen.
[Aesthetic Shots]
Throughout the story, dimly lit aesthetic shots of both couples, solo shots of each lead, can be randomly intercut, highlighting their chemistry and connection. These shots add depth to the visual storytelling and fill in the gaps of the story timeline.
[Market Scene] 1:57 - 2:37
While Fireboy and his girl are at the market, a scene with a welcome band at the market's entrance is shown. Fireboy joins the band, serenading his girl, and she enjoys the show before they leave. These moments capture the carefree and joyous atmosphere.
[Ending Scene]
The video culminates at the end of the song (2:54). Fireboy arrives at a house and rings the doorbell. Rema opens the door, and they share a brotherly hug. Behind Rema, the video vixen appears, breaking into a smile. Simultaneously, Fireboy's girl appears behind him, holding a bottle of wine. Both girls embrace, revealing that they are twins. The video ends with the visitors being ushered into the house, and the shot of the closing door with end credits displayed on it.
