Despite the fact that it is none of your business, we are going to have this one-way conversation once and for all.

According to Meta AI; tomboy is a term used to describe a girl or woman who exhibits characteristics or behaviours typically associated with boys or men. Character traits such as interest in sports (usually male-dominated ones), wearing clothing and hairstyles that are masculine or androgynous, displaying traits like confidence, assertiveness or competitiveness.

Check, check and check.

It is even seen as a way of challenging traditional gender stereotypes and expectations.

But just so we are clear, being a tomboy doesn't necessarily determine ones sexual orientation, i.e; one can be a tomboy and still be attracted to men.

I've been asked if I was a tomboy more than I can count, often in a tone that makes the word sound degrading, usually out of pure curiosity, and sometimes romantic and/or sexual desires of the other party who my appearance interests.

And when they do, I become a stuttering mess, falling over my words because I'm looks for an answer that would suit the asker’s taste.

Do I say yes? But I don't want the person to think I'm into girls.

Do I say no? I don't want to lie though, I am a tomboy, at least I look like a boy, have a deep voice and no fear, just a need to explain myself.

Short hair, boy clothes, tall, with the cheap jewellery I wear everyday because I'm too lazy and broke to be fancy.

I look like a beautiful girl and a handsome boy depending on how the light hits me. So next time I'm asked, I'm going to say yes I am. I am a tomboy.
