A Father’s Love

We hardly ever talk about a father’s love. And let’s not even go near Father’s Day celebrations—it feels cold and almost non-existent compared to Mother’s Day.

Yes, fathers (most, not all) don’t often show or express their love openly, but they do care.

This morning, I saw a father trying to knot his son’s tie while following a video tutorial he probably found on the internet. The other day, I watched a father helping his son—about eleven years old (though he looked more like his grandson)—put on his school uniform, and the boy was feeling shy.

I, for one, still remember how my dad would come to pick me up from school. Back in primary school—and even during my early NCE days—he would send a bike to fetch me whenever it rained.

Fathers do show love, especially to their children. But once a child reaches a certain age, many fathers stop showing and expressing that love. I wonder why? Perhaps that’s why not everyone remembers those early childhood moments with their dads.

So here’s a special message to fathers: don’t stop showing that you care. It doesn’t make you look weak—it makes you human, present, and deeply loved in return.
